Privacy Notice

Last updated: [DATE]

This site is run by Kerem Avcıl, trading as Distortion Enthusiasts [SOLE TRADER / COMPANY NAME AND NUMBER]. This notice explains what personal data the site collects, why, and what you can do about it. It is written to be read, not to be survived.

The short version

The only personal data this site collects is an email address, and only if you type one into a signup form and tick the consent box. It is stored by MailerLite, not by this website. You can unsubscribe from any email you receive, and that removes you entirely.

What is collected

Your email address, if you choose to submit one through a "get on the list" form on a project page. That is the only field asked for. Nothing else is collected, and no account is created.

Browsing the site without submitting a form collects nothing about you. There is no analytics, no tracking pixel, and no advertising.

Cookies

This site sets no cookies of its own, and there is no cookie banner because there is nothing to consent to. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which means your browser makes a request to Google's servers to fetch them — that request includes your IP address, as any web request does. Google's handling of that is covered by their own privacy policy.

Why, and on what basis

Your email is used for one thing: to tell you about the specific thing you signed up for — a playtest opening, or a release. The lawful basis is your consent, given by ticking the box on the form. You can withdraw it at any time.

You will not be added to an unrelated list. Signing up for one game's playtest does not put you on a list for anything else, here or on keremavcil.net, which keeps its own separate lists under its own notice.

Who processes it

Email addresses are stored and sent by MailerLite, an email service provider acting as a data processor. Their privacy policy is at mailerlite.com/legal/privacy-policy.

The site itself is hosted by Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare processes standard server request data in the course of serving pages.

Nothing is sold on this site, so no payment data is handled here at all.

How long it is kept

Until you unsubscribe, or until the thing you signed up for has happened and the list is no longer needed — whichever comes first. Dormant lists get deleted rather than kept in case they come in useful.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask to:

  • see what data is held about you
  • have it corrected if it is wrong
  • have it deleted
  • withdraw consent, at any time, without giving a reason
  • receive a copy in a portable format
  • object to how it is being used

The fastest route for most of these is the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any email, which removes you immediately. For anything else, email [PRIVACY CONTACT EMAIL] and it will be dealt with within one month.

Complaints

If you think your data has been handled badly, please raise it with me first — it is far more likely to be a mistake than a policy. If that does not resolve it, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Changes

If this notice changes, the date at the top changes with it. There is no mailing list for privacy updates — the current version is always the one on this page.
